Ladies Day

The Foxy ladies from the “Not Kath & Kim” show will be joining us in 2017 so bring along your friend or your second best friend for a day full of laughs

The TJ Show band will be back and they are sure to get everyone up, singing and dancing well into the night

AGA Apprenticeships Plus U19.5 Competitions

THE EDFL has this week agreed to raise the age limit for its Under 19 competitions for the 2017 Season.

These competitions will now be Under 19.5 competitions this coming season.

In discussions during the past few weeks the EDFL had become aware that several clubs were struggling for numbers to field an Under 19 team for Season 2017.

The Board of Management was mindful that the change to the age groups for 2017 meant that there were no players pushing up from the younger age group, as would normally be the case.

Discussions with clubs struggling for numbers indicated that if the age group for the Under 19s were to be increased for 2017, it would assist in attracting more players and getting a team on the park.

Therefore, the Board has resolved to increase the age for the U19 competition to U19.5.

This is effective for the 2017 season only.

At this stage the plan is for the competition to revert back to an Under 19 competition for 2018.

The following players will be eligible to compete in the Under 19.5 competition:

  • Any male born between 1 July 1997 and 31 December 1997, inclusive of these two dates
  • Any male born in 1998
  • Any male born in 1999

By being an EDFL umpire who shows promise in junior then senior football you may then be selected to join the AFLVIC Development Squad. The EDFL is the launching pad for an exciting career as an elite Umpire.

Finally, but most importantly, Umpiring can be great fun! You make lots of friends, have fantastic and sometimes challenging experiences while meeting lots of diverse people. People umpire because they enjoy the challenge. It’s a great way to be involved in the greatest game of all.

Breaking News

‘Club Upgrade’ News from President Geoff Nicholl

To All Members and Supporters of the East Keilor Football Club & Cricket Club.It is with great pleasure that I inform you all that the Moonee Valley City Council has approved and upgraded the funding for our club rooms from $1.9 million to $3 million .

A new double story facility will be built to replace our current rooms which is great news for all to enjoy.

This will delay construction as new plans will have to be draw up and a consultative process to take place.

It is great for our local community as well as players and supporters knowing the future of both clubs will secured for another 50 years and beyond.

AGM NEWS

The AGM of the EKFC was held last night and we are pleased to announce that all office bearers and returning committee were re-elected unopposed.

This is critically important as the club is about celebrate its 50th year anniversary in 2017 as well as the senior team being promoted into DIV 1 for the coming season.

Strength and unity off the field are just as important as the on field operations and as a club we are lucky that we don’t have the upheaval issues that many clubs go through year after year.

We also welcome two new members to the general committee in Lisa Wilczynski and Shane Webster.
