WAYNE CAREY VISITS EKFC
I entered a competition on Triple M radio. I had to write in 50 words or less how Wayne’s tips could help our team this year. He was sponsored by Hino Trucks and Triple M, to attend a team training session, to share tips on and off the field! I wrote something along the lines of : “Our young team is struggling in Division 1 and desperate for some Inspiration. What a boost to have Wayne visit and pass on his knowledge to help our boys compete stronger and have a real crack at it!”
He was very engaging with all our senior playing groups! He spoke to the players for 30 minutes, had a few photos with club members that were fans of his. (Including Myself!) He reinforced not to forget the love of footy they all have and that is why they are here and for the players to unite together to help avoid relegation this year. He acknowledged our match this Weekend against Oak Park, suggesting he would follow how we go, and on the “Sunday Rub” he will “bag them if they don’t go well”, to motivate them. There was chance for Q & A’s in the rooms; it was “insightful and upbeat”. I loved watching the intense concentration and looks of admiration from our players and coaches as he spoke to us! It was a Great night and I still cannot believe we won!
The photo’s include Senior Coach David Battsistalla, Senior Player Craig Brown, Wayne addressing the players in the rooms, and President Geoff Nicholl, Myself! (Kerryn Edgar, and Our Under 14 Junior Player: Riley Gutterson. )
